I’m a lifelong Richmond resident, and the product of a Swedish mother and Italian father, enough said. I began my professional career, like most, in the world of retail sales and soon found this to be financially unrewarding and not the career path I aspired to have, so I went to work for the Richmond Times-Dispatch and held various roles from accounting to manufacturing.

I left the newspaper industry to become the wife of my husband Bob and mother to our three daughters but also to pursue a career as a professional student. My desire to improve public relations in the non-profit world, led me to a position with The William-Byrd Community House, which provided the tools needed to start my own company, and in 2001 I founded Charitable Communications, a voice for non-profits.

In 2006 I took a chance and replied to an ad for a public relations and marketing specialist for Virginia State Parks. Although I never envisioned a career in state parks, what a wonderful career it is.

Today I am the Visitor Services Specialist where I support seven parks in the central region with their public relations and marketing efforts. My home office is located at Pocahontas State Park but most of the time you can find me on the road traveling to the parks in my district - Bear Creek Lake, High Bridge Trail, Holliday Lake, Powhatan, Sailor’s Creek Battlefield and Twin Lakes State Parks.

I work hard to balance my busy career with my family that includes my husband Bob, our daughters and now, seven grandchildren (so far). My husband and I love travel, the outdoors, bad golf and great food.
